➼The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) approved 7 projects worth Rs 692 crore for the construction of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and other works to prevent pollution of the river Ganga and its tributaries.

➼ Geographical Indications Registry granted GI tags for 7 new products from Rajasthan, Goa and Uttar Pradesh, including Matti banana, Chedibutta saree and Jaderi namakatti.

➼ Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pune, Maharashtra and inaugurated the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) and the Centre for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

➼World Breastfeeding Week 2023 was observed from 1 to 7 August with the theme “Enabling Breastfeeding: Making a difference for working parents”.

➼The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept the repo rate unchanged at 4% and the reverse repo rate at 3.35% in its bi-monthly monetary policy review.

➼The RBI also announced a scheme of financial incentives and disincentives for banks to ensure compliance with the system-based asset classification norms.

➼The RBI also extended the scope of Priority Sector Lending (PSL) guidelines to include start-ups, enhancing credit to renewable energy sector and health infrastructure.

➼The Union Cabinet approved the continuation of the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) as a centrally sponsored scheme from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026 with an outlay of Rs.4607.30 crore.

➼The Union Cabinet also approved the continuation of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Fast Track Special Courts for further two years till March 31, 2023 with an outlay of Rs.1572.86 crore.

➼The Union Cabinet also approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Maldives on cooperation in the field of health.

➼The Union Cabinet also approved the signing of MoU between India and Bangladesh on cooperation in disaster management, resilience and mitigation.

➼ The Union Cabinet also approved the signing of MoU between India and Gambia on cooperation in the field of traditional systems of medicine and homeopathy.

➼ The Union Cabinet also approved the signing of MoU between India and United Kingdom on cooperation in the field of medical products regulation.
