The All-India Senior Selection Committee announced India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India.

The squad is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Hardik Pandya (Vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav.

India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 08, 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The 1983 and 2011 World Cup Champions will then take on Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11, 2023 and then face Pakistan on October 14, 2023 at the world’s biggest cricket stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India will play their next five matches against Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka and South Africa respectively before playing their final league-stage match against the Netherlands on November 12, 20231.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is the 13th edition of the premier one-day international cricket tournament, which will be hosted by India from October 5 to November 19, 2023. The event will feature 10 teams, eight of which have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the remaining two will be decided by the qualifying Match in Zimbabwe. The Teams:

The eight teams that have qualified for the ICC World Cup 2023 are India (hosts), England (defending champions), Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and the West Indies. The two teams that will join them from the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier are yet to be determined. The qualifier will feature 10 teams, namely Afghanistan, Ireland, the Netherlands, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Zimbabwe, and Nepal.

 The Format:

The ICC World Cup 2023 will follow a round-robin format, where each team will play against every other team once in the league stage. The top four teams at the end of the league stage will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played in Mumbai and Kolkata. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final in Ahmedabad. All matches will have a reserve day in case of rain or other interruptions.

The Schedule:

The ICC World Cup 2023 will kick off on October 5 with a repeat of the 2019 final between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad. The hosts, India, will begin their campaign on October 8 against five-time winners Australia in Chennai. Some of the other key fixtures are India vs. Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad, Australia vs. England on November 4 in Ahmedabad, and India vs. New Zealand on October 22 in Dharamsala. The semi-finals will be held on November 15 and 16, while the final will be on November 19.

The Venues:
